How to play poker with USDT
A 4 minute read · Updated 30 October 2026
USDT is a dollar that lives on a blockchain. Its value stays at one dollar, it moves in minutes for cents, and Basepoker and WePlay both take it. Here is how to go from no USDT to sitting at a table, and back again.
Why USDT
A poker bankroll should not move while you sleep. If you deposit Bitcoin and the price falls 8% overnight, you have lost 8% of your bankroll without playing a hand. USDT is pegged to the dollar, so the stakes you see are the stakes you have. Both Basepoker and WePlay take it, Basepoker swaps every other coin into USDT from 4 November 2026 anyway, and the tables run in dollar stakes.
Buying USDT
Any large exchange sells USDT for a card payment or a bank transfer, and many countries have local exchanges that take local payment methods. Buy a little more than you plan to deposit, because the exchange charges a small fee to send it and some exchanges have a minimum withdrawal. If you already hold another coin, the exchange swaps it to USDT in a few clicks.
USDT exists on several blockchains, which the exchange calls networks. The same dollar on Tron, on Ethereum or on Binance Smart Chain is a different token, and a transfer only arrives when the network you choose matches the one the poker room expects. That choice is the one step where money is lost, so it gets its own section.
Picking the network
| Room | USDT networks it takes | Fee and time |
|---|---|---|
| Basepoker | Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, Binance Smart Chain, TON | Cents and a few minutes on all but Ethereum, which costs dollars |
| WePlay | Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Tron | Cents and a few minutes on Binance Smart Chain and Tron; Ethereum costs dollars |
Open the room's cashier, choose USDT, choose a network from its list, and copy the address it shows. In your exchange, choose the same network by name before you paste the address. If the exchange does not offer that network, do not improvise with another one; pick a network both sides list. Binance Smart Chain and Ethereum are the ones both rooms share, and Binance Smart Chain is the cheap one.
The deposit, step by step
- Sign up at the room and open the cashier. Choose USDT and the network.
- Copy the deposit address with the copy button. Compare its first four and last four characters with what you paste.
- Send a small test amount first, $10 or so, and wait for it to show in your balance. Then send the rest.
- The room credits the deposit once the network confirms it, usually within a few minutes.
- If it does not show after half an hour, find the transaction ID in your exchange, check it on the network's explorer, and send the ID to the room's support.
Basepoker takes USDT from $1 and WePlay from $10. If you want a welcome bonus, read its terms before this first deposit, because the bonus is tied to the first deposit and it only happens once.
Playing in USDT
Once the money is in, the room shows your balance in dollars and the tables in dollar stakes. A $0.05/$0.10 table is a $0.05/$0.10 table whether the dollars came from a card or from USDT. Rakeback is paid in USDT too: into your balance every Monday on WePlay, and claimable from the Rewards page on Basepoker.
Getting it out
A withdrawal is the deposit in reverse. In the cashier, choose USDT and a network, paste an address from your own wallet or exchange on that same network, and confirm. Basepoker pays out from $10 with no fee beyond the network cost. WePlay has no minimum. From your exchange you can sell the USDT for your own currency and send it to your bank, or keep it as USDT for the next session.
Two habits save trouble. Withdraw regularly rather than leaving a bankroll on a room, and keep the transaction IDs of your deposits and withdrawals until the money has arrived.
Questions
Which network should I use to send USDT to a poker room?
The one the room's cashier lists, chosen by the same name in your exchange. WePlay takes USDT on Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain or Tron. Basepoker takes it on Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, Binance Smart Chain or TON. Send a small test first.
Is USDT safe to hold for poker?
It holds its value at one dollar, which is the point for a bankroll. It is issued by a company, Tether, so it is not the same as a dollar in a bank, and for the money you are not playing with, your own exchange or bank is the place, not a poker room.
How much USDT do I need to start?
Basepoker takes deposits from $1 and WePlay from $10. A bankroll that lasts is another matter: 30 buy-ins for the cash stake you play, or 100 buy-ins for tournaments.
Can I withdraw in a different coin than I deposited?
The cashier of each room shows the coins and methods it pays out in. At Basepoker the balance is held in USDT from 4 November 2026 whatever you deposited, so the withdrawal is a choice of coin and network in the cashier.
