The Sunday Showdown on WePlay: $10,000 every Sunday

A 4 minute read · Updated 1 November 2026

Every Sunday at 18:30 UTC WePlay runs the Sunday Showdown: $55 to play, $10,000 guaranteed and a bounty on every player, the biggest guarantee of its week. Our seat cost $11 in the $5.50 satellite earlier the same day.

What you get for $55

Of the $55 buy-in, $25 goes to the prize pool, $25 is the bounty on your own head and $5 is WePlay's fee. The $10,000 guarantee covers the prize pool and the bounties together. With 41 players registered, the lobby showed it as $9,670 in cash plus five $66 tickets to the Monthly Mystery, which adds up to the $10,000.

The bounties

Every player starts with a $25 bounty. When you knock someone out, the lobby says you are paid at least $12.50, half of that player's bounty. The other half is added to your own bounty, which is what makes it a progressive knockout: the players who have knocked out the most carry the biggest bounties later in the evening, and that changes which all-ins are worth calling. How we play bounty tournaments goes through it, and the bounty calculator shows what a knockout does to a call.

The $5.50 way in

WePlay runs a Sunday Showdown satellite on the same day at 15:00 UTC, three and a half hours before the main tournament: $5.50 to play, with $55 seats as the prize, two of them guaranteed. Our seat came from it and cost us $11 in all. The satellite has rebuys and an add-on, and in a satellite that is fine; the Showdown itself has neither.

A seat won in the satellite is a ticket, and the Showdown takes tickets: the lobby shows "Ticket Entry: Available". The Tonight page lists the satellite and the Showdown in UTC, and how to play a satellite is a different game from the tournament it leads to.

The Sunday Showdown details in the WePlay app: 20,000 chips, 7 players a table, unlimited re-entries, 4,000 early bird chips, 8-minute levels
The info tab the same moment: the stack, the table size, re-entry and the early bird chips.

Two hours before the start, 41 players had registered. At $50 each into the prize pool and the bounties, that is $2,050 of the players' own money towards a $10,000 guarantee, and the guarantee is paid whatever the final field. Our arithmetic: it takes 200 entries before the players' money covers the guarantee on its own. Below that, the difference is money WePlay adds, which players call overlay.

The lobby showed six places paid at that point, and it says itself that the payouts follow the number of players until registration closes. Late registration and re-entries keep adding entries well after the start.

Our tips

  • Register before the start. Everyone registered before late registration begins gets 4,000 extra chips, 24,000 instead of 20,000.
  • Decide how many re-entries you allow yourself before you sit down. Unlimited re-entry helps after a bad start and costs a lot when it becomes a habit.
  • Plan for a long evening. The levels are 8 minutes and the tables seat seven, so the blinds come round quickly, with a break at 55 minutes past every hour.
  • Start with the satellite. For $5.50 you play for a $55 seat, and ours cost $11.

One Sunday, maybe

We have not won it yet. The field is small enough that one good evening goes a long way, and one Sunday we hope to be lucky enough to take it down. If you play it, tell us how you did in the Telegram group.

The Sunday Showdown, its satellite and the daily tournaments are in the WePlay lobby, from a $10 deposit in USDT.
